Derby County 'fail to pay players' December wages' due to a delay in the £60m sale of the club to Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Khaled - cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour - but the takeover will be completed 'imminently'

Derby County have been unable to pay their players on time for December but Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Khaled is set to complete his takeover of the club imminently, according to reports.

According to The Telegraph, interim boss Wayne Rooney, his players and senior members of staff have been told they might not receive their full wages until next week.

Sportsmail revealed in November that Khaled, the cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour, had gained approval from the EFL to take control of the club from current owner Mel Morris.
