The action was so frenetic, it took my breath away. It was like seeing two punchers trying to knock each other out — fantastic entertainment and you can only imagine how a packed Elland Road would have reacted.
But amid the madness, the final 20 minutes might have given Pep Guardiola some clarity of thought and a glimpse to the future when Nathan Ake replaced Benjamin Mendy at left-back.
I feel some sympathy for City’s full-backs, Kyle Walker and Mendy, because they know Guardiola’s philosophy is for them to push high and be creative.


So when you haven’t got great midfield cover, like Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum provide at Liverpool, you can be caught out.
