Cheick Tiote's death is a sad reminder of other football stars who lost their lives doing what they loved... including Antonio Puerta and Marc-Vivien Foe

The tragic passing of former Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote has once again put the game of football into perspective.

Tiote died at the age of 30 after collapsing during a training session with Chinese club Beijing Enterprises on Monday.

Sadly, this is not the first time a player has lost his life on the field. Here, Sportsmail remembers those who were taken far too soon.

Marc-Vivien Foe (Cameroon) - June 2003

Former West Ham and Manchester City midfielder Foe was part of the Cameroon squad at the 2003 Confederations Cup in France, when he collapsed during his side's semi-final clash with Colombia.
