AHEAD OF THE GAME: Gareth Southgate's England scouting missions go into lockdown while Sky Sports' directives over Black Lives Matter leave senior staff irritated

Gareth Southgate's long spell without attending matches in person is set to continue, with the Premier League telling the FA that top-flight managers and scouts will only be permitted to watch future opposition they are due to play within three games' time.

The same principle is being applied to Southgate and the FA's team of coaches and analysts as their attendance would be to fulfil a scouting function.

Given England are not due to play until their UEFA Nations League matches against Iceland and Denmark in September, Southgate will have to continue assessing players from home.
