A stubborn squirrel on the loose at the Etihad Stadium refused to leave the pitch prior to Manchester City's Carabao Cup clash with Wolves... before a groundsman finally caught it

There was, rather bizarrely, a very stubborn squirrel on the loose at the Etihad Stadium prior to Manchester City's Carabao Cup clash with Wolves.

It took groundsmen several minutes to remove the squirrel, who seemed rather content bounding around the pitch doing its best impersonation of Kevin De Bruyne.

The City staff first saw the animal by the corner flag and attempted to ease it off the pitch to safety.

But the squirrel was not obliging.
