LSU football landed one of its biggest commitments of the 2022 recruiting cycle in late April when five-star defensive back Jacoby Mathews pledged to play for the Tigers.
Mathews’ commitment, however, didn’t last long.
The Louisiana native reopened his recruitment on July 30, just before taking an unofficial visit to Texas A&M.
Mathews, 6-foot-2/205 lbs from Ponchatoula, LA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 safety in the country and the No. 3 player in Louisiana. He’s also rated as the No. 27 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.
