Threatening no LSU football is nothing but hot air

Last month, it was Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards trying to convince his football-loving state that LSU might not field a football team this fall because of the state’s budget crisis. Now, LSU System president F. King Alexander has hopped in the echo chamber.

In a report Monday from WWL.com, Alexander agreed with the governor’s comments, insisting that unless enough revenue is raised, LSU might have to cancel summer-school classes. That deficiency would mean about half of the student-athletes would be ineligible to play this fall. Odd, that in his now-infamous televised address, Edwards said the state could not afford to meet payroll after April 30.
