When LSU hosts Mississippi State in its SEC opener this Saturday at Tiger Stadium, the Tigers will be wearing uniforms inspired from a time well before their own.
So it only made sense Thursday for the school to plunge into its image vault to grab a photo of the former player who helped spur the idea of bringing the retro jersey back.
In honor of “Throwback Thursday” (#TBT), LSU football colorized a photo of its 1940s star quarterback Y.A. Tittle in his uniform that inspired Saturday’s look.
LSU’s uniforms, which the school calls “Gridiron Gold,” for this Saturday were helped brought to life after an on-campus visit by Tittle a few years ago, the school said.
