RALEIGH, NC – The LSU softball team defeated NC State in game one of the double header 2-1, the Tigers move to 25-14 on the season and while NC State falls to 22-12.
In the top of the first the Tigers loaded the bases and a sacrifice fly to left field from Raeleen Gutierrez plated Ciara Briggs from third, taking an early 1-0 lead. NC State plated one run in the home half of the inning to even the score.
The two teams battled in a pitcher's duel but a clutch homerun from Taylor Tidwell in the top of the seventh elevated the Tigers 2-1 over NC State and allowed them to take game two of the series.
