Second LSU opponent will not have all-conference QB due to suspension: report

Chattanooga will not have all-conference quarterback Alejandro Bennifield when the Mocs come to Tiger Stadium in two weeks.

The Chattanooga (Tenn.) Times Free Press reported Friday that Bennifield will be ineligible for the first four games for what the school said was an academic issue.

The Mocs open the season Saturday against Jacksonville State in Montgomery, Ala., and then have a bye before coming to LSU.

Sophomore Nick Tiano will start in place of Bennifield. Tiano began his college career at Mississippi State, where he played in five games and attempted one pass.

Bennifield last season earned second-team all-SoCon honors when he threw for 2,622 yards and 26 touchdowns.
