Newly selfless LSU Tigers show mettle, grit in beating Gators at Swamp

On the Eagle 98.1 Gameday postgame show after LSU defeated Florida Saturday, former All-American Todd McClure referenced defensive end Rashard Lawrence playing on a “flat tire.” McClure was referring to the two sprained ankles which have kept Lawrence out of three games this season and clearly slowed him against the Gators.

“But he was out there,” McClure said, “because he knew his guys were counting on him.”

Lawrence made just one tackle, but he ate double teams the entire afternoon freeing linebacker Devin White to lead the team with 13. It was the kind of selfless effort LSU needed a week after a humiliating loss to Troy and one that was replicated everywhere you looked during the old fashioned slobber-knocker in The Swamp.
