MLB Draft 2017: LSU signee Nate Pearson drafted 28th overall by Toronto

College of Central Florida pitcher and LSU signee Nate Pearson was selected with the 28th pick in the first round by the Toronto Blue Jays in the Major League Baseball Draft Monday.

The 6-foot-6, 245-pound Pearson wowed scouts in a workout recently with close to a dozen pitches topping 100 miles per hour.

He went 5-2 this year with 118 strikeouts - and just 23 walks - in 81.0 innings pitched with a 1.56 ERA.

Pearson started his career at Florida International before transferring to the College of Central Florida. He went 1-1 in 19 appearances with FIU with a 2.
