BATON ROUGE, La. — Thursday night came news that Les Miles and every LSU fan knew was inevitable when Frank Wilson was hired in 2010 — the Tigers’ running back coach/recruiting coordinator is leaving Baton Rouge to become a head coach.
UT San Antonio has hired Wilson as coach, replacing Larry Coker.
Wilson never hid his desire to be a head coach. Most recently, there were overtures from Louisiana-Monroe; last year, Wilson interviewed for the Troy job. Each time, though, Wilson ended up back at LSU scoring another star-studded recruiting class.
In 2011, Wilson was named recruiter of the year by Rivals.
