LSU moving wide receiver Mannie Netherly to cornerback

After not signing a cornerback in the 2018 class, LSU is short on numbers at the position with only four returning scholarship corners. Ed Orgeron announced safety signee Kelvin Joseph will play corner, but the Tigers will also look for DB help at other spots on the roster.

“We think we’ll move Mannie Netherly from receiver to corner,” LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond said on “Hangin’ with Hester” on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge. “He’ll add some depth and that will help.”

Netherly (6-feet-3, 194 pounds) was a consensus four-star prospect in the 2017 class out of Texas.
