LSU LB Corey Thompson hoping his 6th season is the charm

BATON ROUGE, La. — “You want the honest answer?” LSU senior linebacker Corey Thompson said when asked how he feels. “Hey, I feel like an old man.”

It’s an understandable feeling for a rare sixth-year senior; Thompson missed the 2014 and ’16 seasons because of injury. Known to his teammates as “Uncle Corey,” Thompson remains driven by the unrealized goals he set when he first arrived at LSU from the Houston area as a four-star safety and the heir apparent to All-American Eric Reid.

Thompson’s career started off on the right track, as he played in all 13 games as a true freshman in 2012.
