LSU football typically dominates in-state recruiting, but that doesn’t mean it’s automatic.
The Tigers still have to put in the work on the recruiting trail in Louisiana to make sure elite in-state talent doesn’t leave the state.
One of the 2022 players that LSU is recruiting is three-star linebacker Javae Gilmore.
Gilmore, 6-foot-4/200 lbs from Amite, LA (Amite), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 31 outside linebacker in the country and the No. 19 overall player in Louisiana.

Gilmore spoke to Rivals this week about his recruitment and he made it clear that LSU and Mississippi State are the two programs recruiting him the hardest right now.
