LSU football sophomore quarterback Max Johnson will be the Tigers’ starting quarterback when the season opens on September 4 against UCLA.

Johnson finished the 2020 season as LSU’s starter. And he was in the midst of an intense quarterback battle with redshirt senior Myles Brennan before a broken arm sidelined Brennan for at least two months.

It’s very possible that Johnson would’ve won the battle even if Brennan hadn’t suffered a broken arm.

While Brennan has more experience, Johnson impressed in the final weeks of the 2020 season and during spring practice to the extent that several analysts felt like it was Johnson’s job to lose.
