BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU abruptly tore the bandage off a fresh wound because, really, there was nothing else left to do.
Les Miles is out as the Tigers’ coach after 11-plus seasons that were equal parts high-level success, wild ride and maddening inspiration for frustration from a fan base that maintains an unrealistic infatuation for the man who preceded the quirky man known as “The Mad Hatter.”
Miles was fired Sunday, along with his longtime friend Cam Cameron, LSU’s offensive coordinator, which also is part of the explanation for why and how things deteriorated so quickly the past three seasons.
