BATON ROUGE – LSU softball freshman Raeleen Gutierrez has been named the Southeastern Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
In the Tigers' weekend series win over NC State, Gutierrez hit .500 with four hits and a pair of RBI. She hit her second career home run in the series clincher over the Wolfpack on Saturday.
For the year, Gutierrez is hitting .310 for third on the team. She has started 20 games for the Tigers, including the last 14.
LSU returns to the road to take on No. 14 Kentucky Friday-Sunday in Lexington.
