Members of the LSU football team organized a peaceful protest on campus marching from Tiger Stadium to Interim President Thomas Galligan’s office Friday afternoon.
The athletes were marching to raise awareness for social injustices in America and police brutality. The march by the LSU players joins a growing list of athletes using their platforms in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake, who was shot seven times in the back by police officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin during an arrest.
The movement was led by senior safety JaCoby Stevens and senior defensive end Andre Anthony; redshirt junior quarterback Myles Brennan and junior wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase were also prominent in Friday’s demonstration.
