Dugas Honored as SEC Football Legend

BATON ROUGE -- Robert Dugas, one of the most decorated student-athletes in school history, will represent LSU as its 2016 SEC Football Legend, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Dugas, a native of Lulig, La., was a three-year letterwinner for the Tigers from 1976-78. Dugas was a 1978 National Scholar-Athlete and was also a first-team Academic All-America selection in 1977.

On the field, Dugas earned All-America honors from the Football News as he anchored an LSU offensive line known as the “Root Hogs.” He helped pave the way for LSU running back Charles Alexander who set numerous school rushing records.
