It was a long day, but a good day, as the fighting Tigers played as well as they have all season and won two games to survive and advance to today’s NCAA Baseball Regional Championship. Here’s the somewhat short version of how this Tiger team, which many had left for dead a week ago, now finds itself one win away from a Super Regional appearance.
Eight pitches into the first game, it seemed that it would be a disastrous day for AJ Labas and the Tigers. A leadoff double, a hit-by-pitch and a walk loaded the bases with no outs for a Gonzaga team that had held LSU scoreless two days before.
