BOOOOOM! The deal is done! LSU has hired Hall of Famer and three-time national champion Kim Mulkey to be LSU’s next women’s basketball coach. Look, I’m not going to pretend to be someone who follows women’s basketball closely. That would be disingenuous. But that will likely change after this massive news, and it doesn’t take an expert to see that this is a slam dunk hire for LSU. Heck, “slam dunk” doesn’t do it justice. As others like Scott Rabalais of the Advocate have pointed out, LSU has never hired a coach with a résumé nearly as impressive as Mulkey’s, making this the most impressive hire in LSU sports history.
