Damone Clark Named Butkus Award Semifinalist

Senior linebacker Damone Clark was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, given annually to the best linebacker in college football.

Clark has been the lone bright spot this season with 98 tackles through eight games. Clark leads the SEC in tackles and his 57 solo tackles is second in all of college football behind Northwestern’s Chris Bergin. He’s also has assisted on 42 tackles and forced two fumbles.

Clark is averaging 12.2 tackles per game; he’s 56 tackles away from tying Bradie James’s single season record of 154 back in 2002 meaning he’ll need to average 14 tackles in LSU’s final four games.
