Corey Thompson could be answer to LSU’s LB problem

Beckwith is a special athlete, for sure — he doubled as a quarterback in high school — but the lack of someone, anyone, to play alongside him was a major concern.

Consider that Beckwith’s 84 tackles in 2015 are exactly double the combined total of LSU’s other three returning linebackers (42). Leading tackler Deion Jones and backup Lamar Louis are gone to graduation. The Tigers did not sign a linebacker last year and were hit again when former five-star prospect Clifton Garrett transferred to UAB. This has left LSU thin at linebacker — like Olsen twins thin.

Reinforcements are on the way as part of a star-studded signing class.
