Bandon, Ore. – Phillip Barberee and Trey Winstead both won their matches Wednesday afternoon in the 120th U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes Resort, advancing to the Round of 32.
Despite never trailing through the match, Barberee needed 19 holes to defeat Turk Pettit. Barberee took a 1 Up into the 18th hole, but Pettit birdied the Par 5 forcing extra holes. Replaying the first hole, Barberee parred the 19th hole of the match and benefited from Pettit's bogie, advancing to the next round.
