Former LSU left guard Alan Faneca received the highest honor in football Saturday night as he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2021 class, his sixth year as a finalist.
At LSU Faneca was a consensus first-team All-American and Outland Trophy finalist in 1997. Faneca started 36 consecutive games at right guard for the Tigers before being selected in the first round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1998.
Faneca enjoyed a 13-year career in the NFL, where he was an All-Pro eight times (6x First-Team, 2x Second-Team) and voted to nine Pro Bowls. Faneca helped Pittsburgh win Super Bowl 40 and was named to to NFL’s 2000s All-Decade team.
