3 Things We Learned From LSU's 34-24 Win Over Syracuse

The LSU Tigers grabbed their first road victory of the season with a 34-24 win over Syracuse early Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't always pretty. Here are three things we learned from the game:

1) Leonard Fournette solidified himself as the Heisman frontrunner

Fournette dominated again in this one, racking up 244 yards and two touchdowns on just 26 carries. He now has rushed for over 200 yards in five straight games, setting the standard as the best player in the country. Here's just a bit from what he did today:

2) Syracuse has a pretty good team

There's only so much you can do against Fournette, but the Orange played well in almost every other facet of the game. Quarterback Zack Mahoney threw for three touchdowns against a really good defense in his first career start, allowing Syracuse to hang with LSU for most of the game. They will be a factor in the ACC race and will pull at least one upset down the road.

3) Brandon Harris still needs to improve - a lot

LSU has always been a run-first team under head coach Les Miles, but quarterback Brandon Harris needs to play much better if the Tigers want to meet their goals of winning the SEC and the national championship. He only completed eight passes in this game, a majority of which were long passes his receivers made great plays on instead of them being top-notch throws. Fournette can only do so much for this offense - Harris is going to have to pick up the rest, and he hasn't proven he can do that yet.
