When senior forwards Ryan Schwieger and Chris Knight first took the floor for the Loyola men’s basketball team this season, they were joining a team in transition. It had a new head coach, four returning graduate players and was fresh off its second NCAA Tournament run in four years — propelled by a player who left to play professionally.
In the season to follow, Loyola’s duo of Ivy League transfers not only proved their importance to the Ramblers, but were key pieces in guiding the program to its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance — its first back-to-back appearances since 1963-64.
