Strong Fourth Quarter Leads Loyola to 52-43 Win over Detroit Mercy

After losing to Youngstown State University Nov. 9 to start the season, the Loyola women’s basketball team (1-1) had a big comeback in the fourth quarter to win its home opener 52-43 over University of Detroit Mercy Monday night.

“It’s a great start to the season,” sophomore guard Ellie Rice said after the game. “Starting 1-0 on our home court gives us a lot of confidence moving forward. The [first-years] especially stepped up tonight. Even though it was a battle through all four quarters, I think everyone came together and we got the win.”

The Ramblers struggled to gain control and didn’t have a lead until the fourth quarter.
