My first column was dated May 29. The Cubs were 25-25 and tied for second place in the National League Central Division behind the Milwaukee Brewers. Fans started panicking in fear of another championship drought. I — being the voice of reason — said to have patience and to let them wake up.

Fast-forward to today, the Cubs are now 75-63 and have a 3.5 game lead on the Brewers. After a mediocre 43-45 first half, the former “Lovable Losers” are on a 32-18 run after the All-Star Break — second to only the Baltimore Orioles. With a 4.
