New York-based Tiz the Law wins Belmont Stakes

The New York-bred Tiz The Law won Saturday's Belmont Stakes, run under perhaps the most unusual circumstances in the race's 152-year history.

Tiz the Law, trained by Barclay Tagg, was the post-time favorite at 4-5.

Dr. Post was second and Max Player third.

The coronavirus pandemic forced the Triple Crown to be modified from its usual sequence, with the Belmont Stakes -- usually the final leg of the five-week series -- kicking things off for the first time. The Kentucky Derby is scheduled to follow on Sept. 5, with the Preakness finishing up on Oct. 3.
