Pulling away in the second half, the Loyola men’s basketball team (9-3, 4-1) won over the University of Northern Iowa 72-57 at Gentile Arena Jan. 16 in the first matchup of their two-game series Jan. 16-17. The game was a hard-fought physical matchup between the top two picks in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) preseason poll — Northern Iowa at No. 1 and the Ramblers at No. 2.
Loyola redshirt senior guard Tate Hall came off the bench to lead the game with a season-high 24 points. Two other Ramblers made it into the double digits — sophomore guard Marquise Kennedy and senior guard Keith Clemons, in his first start of the season, put up 10 points each.
