The Loyola men’s basketball team (6-2,1-0) kicked off Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play by defeating Indiana State University 88-76 at Gentile Arena Dec. 1. This win extended the Ramblers’ at-home winning streak to 26 games.
The two teams entered the game with the series tied 17-17, but Loyola had captured nine of the last 12 contests. The Ramblers last met the Sycamores during the semifinal round of the 2021 MVC Tournament, which Loyola took 65-49.
Loyola was slated to finish second in the MVC for the second season in the MVC preseason poll, while Indiana State was selected to finish ninth out of the ten teams— dropping five places after being picked fourth for the 2020-2021 season.
