Loyola women’s basketball junior guard Sam Galanopoulos leads the team on both ends of the court, running plays to set up scoring opportunities while directing the team defensively.

Galanopoulos commands the court for an average of 29 minutes a game and is responsible for executing Loyola’s offense, leading the team with 71 assists this season. Head coach Kate Achter has tasked her with making sure her teammates are in the right spots for plays while reading if the other team’s defense is playing man-to-man or zone.

Galanopoulos, raised just miles north of Loyola in Skokie, Illinois, was born a Rambler as both of her parents are Loyola graduates.
