After posting an 18-12 record this season, Loyola women’s basketball head coach Kate Achter’s contract was not renewed by Loyola, according to a short press release put out by Loyola Athletics March 24. Achter’s exit comes days after senior forward Allison Day, senior guard Janae Gonzales, and sophomore guard Kaylen Evans entered the transfer portal.
“We thank Coach Achter for her contributions to the program over the last six seasons and we wish her and her family the best in their future endeavors,” Athletics Director Steve Watson said in the statement.
Achter replaced former head coach Sheryl Swoopes in the 2016-17 season following an investigation into allegations that Swoopes mistreated players.
