LOS ANGELES -- Eli Scott scored 21 points and Loyola Marymount defeated UC Riverside 76-64 on Wednesday night for its first win this season.
Scott, a freshman, made 7 of 15 shots and collected six rebounds for the Lions (1-1). Mattias Markusson, a 7-foot-3 sophomore from Sweden, scored a career-high 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. James Batemon added 12 points and Steven Haney 10.
The Lions took the lead for good at 22-15 in the first half with a 14-3 run. Scott scored seven points to begin a 12-3 run that left LMU ahead by 12 with 11:15 remaining in the game, and the lead remained in double figures.
