Reece Gaines and Doug Davenport, two men with deep Louisville roots, are joining Dan McHale's (another man with deep Louisville roots) first coaching staff at Eastern Kentucky.
Gaines, who was the first star of the Rick Pitino era at U of L, has spent the past two seasons working as an assistant coach at Bellarmine. He is Louisville's fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,945 points, and was a lottery pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.
Davenport has been Pitinos' director of video operations for the past three seasons, helping the Cards to a Sweet 16 run, an Elite Eight run and a national championship.
