Ranking college basketball’s best programs for NBA Draft production

Ever wondered which college basketball programs have had the most success getting its players selected in the NBA draft? Furthermore, have you ever wondered which college basketball programs have had the most success getting its players selected in the NBA draft since college basketball adopted the three-point rule in 1987?

If you answered yes to both of these questions — but especially the second one — then this is the post for you.

To ensure that both quality and quantity were taken into account appropriately for these rankings, I developed the simplest possible scoring system: three points for a lottery pick (the lottery included 14, 13, 11 and nine teams at various points over the past 34 years); two points for a non-lottery first-round pick; and one point for a second-round pick.
