Louisville baseball not selected for NCAA tournament

Thanks in large part to an RPI of 74 and a late season swoon that saw them drop 11 of their final 16 games, the Louisville baseball team has been left out of the NCAA tournament.

This marks the first time since 2011 that U of L has been excluded from the field of 64, and just the second time since Dan McDonnell took control of the program in 2007.

The Cards appeared to be poised to boost themselves into the field with a pair of wins at the ACC tournament in Charlotte, but a heartbreaking extra inning loss to Georgia Tech on Thursday appears to have sealed the team’s fate.
