Lamar Jackson not a finalist for Davey O’Brien or Maxwell awards

If you’ve reached your limit of “Lamar Jackson doesn’t get enough respect and it’s driving me crazy” content, then you might want to skip this one. Of course if you’re here, you probably already saw the headline and have spontaneously combusted. That’s my fault. I’ll wear it.

For everyone else, the three finalists for two of college football’s most prestigious awards, the Maxwell Award and the Davey O’Brien Award, were released Monday. Neither included Jackson.

The Maxwell Award, which is given annually to the best overall player in college football and which was won by Jackson a year ago, is down to Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, and Stanford running back Bryce Love.
