Brief: U of L trustee steps down

By Olivia Krauth–

After months of discussions regarding the lack of an African American member of U of L’s Board of Trustees, long outspoken member Steve Wilson has resigned to give a seat to an African American.

Attorney General Jack Conway announced earlier today that Governor Steve Beshear had violated a state law on minority representation on the board. Beshear has said Wilson’s replacement will be an African American.

The issue started this summer, when the board’s only appointed African American member, Kevin Cosby, left at the end of his term. He was replaced by Paul Diaz.
