MONROE, La. – The University of Louisiana Monroe women's soccer team dropped its home opener, 1-0, to McNeese State Sunday afternoon, with Cowgirl freshman Havana Johnson scoring the match's only goal with 36 seconds left in the second half. Johnson netted her first career goal off a feed from senior Savannah LaRicci.
ULM junior goalkeeper Brooke-Lynn Scroggins recorded eight saves for the second-straight match (vs. TCU in the season opener Friday, Aug. 18), including five stops in the second half. McNeese State (1-1) out-shot the Warhawks, 24-2, including nine shots on goal.
The Warhawks had two scoring opportunities in the first half, but Cowgirl freshman goalkeeper Emma Roccaforte came up with stops on shots from senior Tanya Lariviere and sophomore Mia Walters.
