NEW ORLEANS – ULM sophomore running back Thomas Koufie has been named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday morning. Koufie became the first ULM running back in program history to score five touchdowns as he helped the Warhawks to a 37-23 victory over Georgia State on the road.
Koufie’s recognition marks the second consecutive Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors following quarterback Caleb Evans receiving the nod last week after his performance against South Alabama.
Leading 9-7 at the half, ULM jumped on the back of Koufie, as he scored three touchdowns in the third quarter – from 18 yards out and a pair of one-yard scores – as the Warhawks took control of the game.
