NCAA Announces Penalties Against ULM Men’s Basketball Program

MONROE, La. – The NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions announced on Friday, Aug. 17 the results of the investigation of the academic misconduct violations committed within the ULM men's basketball program last year. The penalties include public reprimand and censure, two years of probation and a financial penalty. The penalties do not impact any student-athlete's eligibility or the team's eligibility to compete in postseason play.

The penalties are the result of violations committed by former assistant men's basketball coach Phillipe Lilavois. Last September, the ULM Athletics Department was notified of alleged misconduct by Lilavois, who was immediately placed on administrative leave (Sept.
