Lafayette, La. - ULM junior right handed pitcher Ty Barnes was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 29 to May 5, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
Barnes pitched the first complete game shutout by a ULM pitcher in four years (vs. Sam Houston State, Feb. 28, 2015) and the first by a ULM pitcher in Sun Belt Conference play in seven years (vs. Middle Tennessee, April 21, 2012). He scattered seven hits with one walk vs. UT Arlington, and allowed only one base runner to reach third base in picking up his fourth win of the season.
