LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns junior forward Simone Fields was named the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Week in a release by the conference office on Tuesday.
Fields led Louisiana (1-0) with a double-double with 28 points and 13 rebounds to help the Ragin' Cajuns to a 77-70 win over McNeese in the season opener for both teams. Fields shot 11-18 from the floor and was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
The San Antonio, Texas native also had two steals and one assist in the Cajuns come from behind win on the road.
