LAFAYETTE — It took a while, but playoff baseball actually happened at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field on Friday.
The skies were relatively clear at 1 p.m., the originally scheduled start time between Arizona and Sam Houston State, but the teams never took the field, and it quickly became clear why.
High winds, heavy rain and lightning hammered the area for much of the afternoon, causing both Sam Houston State and Arizona to head back to their team hotels. They endured a five-hour delay before they were able to finally start at 6 p.m.
That delay obviously affected Louisiana-Lafayette.
