LAFAYETTE — After four years of determination and work, Louisiana-Lafayette senior pitcher Nick Zaunbrecher finally got his chance this week.
This is not about a chance to shine on the mound. Zaunbrecher’s still working hard in case that opportunity arises. This is about something greater, something that will have a profound impact on his life, and if it all works out, the lives of many others.
On Tuesday, shortly before the Cajuns thrashed the UNO 17-3, Zaunbrecher got the call he’s been waiting on for more than a year: He’d been accepted into medical school at LSU-Shreveport.
