ARLINGTON, Texas — A two-run home run from Kacey Everett gave UT Arlington the lead in the third inning, and Samantha Clakley shut down a late rally attempt as the Mavericks snapped No. 5 Lousiana-Lafayette’s 16-game win streak with a 3-1 win in the Sun Belt Conference softball series finale on Sunday at Allan Saxe Field.
Clakley scattered six hits and struck out seven in the complete-game victory for the Mavericks (22-4, 1-2), who bounced back from a 13-0, 16-0 doubleheader sweep on Saturday.
Kylee Jo Trahan fell to 9-2 with the loss. She was charged with all three UTA runs in four innings.
